Child Safety Standards

Last updated: July 2026

mōtive is an adults-only social app for organizing in-person hangouts. This page describes the standards we hold ourselves to for keeping children safe from harm on our platform.

Adults only

mōtive is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to sign up or use the service. Every account is age-gated at signup, and our Terms of Service require you to confirm you are at least 18.

How we verify who's using motive

Every new account is manually reviewed by a human admin before it is approved. At signup we ask you to take a short verification selfie, which we compare to your profile photo to confirm a real person matching the profile is behind the account. Accounts that appear to belong to minors are rejected during this review and the associated data is deleted.

Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM)

mōtive strictly prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation material (CSAM/CSAE) in any form. This includes any content that sexualizes minors, any grooming or predatory behavior directed at minors, and any attempt to use mōtive to contact, target, or exploit a child. Violation results in immediate permanent removal of the content and permanent ban of the account.

In-app reporting

Every event in mōtive has a “Report this event” option, which you can use to flag suspected CSAM, predatory behavior toward minors, or any content or user that concerns you. You can block any user instantly from the attendee list of any event, or from your block-list in settings — blocking removes them from your feed and prevents any further contact. We review every report within 24 hours. For CSAM concerns specifically, or to report anything you suspect involves a child, email us directly at safety@joinmotive.app — we treat these as top-priority regardless of source.

How we handle CSAM reports

When a CSAM report is received, we:

Legal compliance

mōtive complies with all applicable child safety laws in the jurisdictions where it operates, including U.S. federal reporting requirements under 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, and Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy for social apps.

Contact for CSAM reports

To report suspected CSAM, exploitation of a minor, or child safety concerns on mōtive, contact us directly at safety@joinmotive.app. For imminent danger to a child, contact local law enforcement first and then notify us.
